STEPHANIE STERN uses her varied litigation experience, quick-thinking and strong writing skills to address manifold issues in fast-paced, complex litigation cases. Stephanie has handled a wide variety of security, white collar and products liability cases. Included in this experience is drafting preliminary injunction briefs, complaints and discovery motions in both state and federal court. Stephanie’s experience as a clerk in district court allows her to draft creative and effective written court submissions. Stephanie also has extensive experience in ESI discovery issues, including preservation investigation and negotiations with plaintiffs’ counsel.
In matters involving criminal law, Stephanie’s background in criminal justice enables her to more effectively advocate for clients and obtain positive outcomes. Before joining Sidley, Stephanie interned in the Criminal Division of the United States Attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York. During law school, Stephanie externed at the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, where she aided in the investigation of cybercrimes. In addition, she worked for a juvenile parole program in Manhattan Family Court before attending law school.
Stephanie also maintains an active pro bono practice, including successfully obtaining a settlement for a plaintiff in a Section 1983 civil rights case.
Stephanie served as managing editor of the Journal on Legislation at Harvard Law School.
