JIM ZHOU is counsel in Sidley’s Century City office and a member of the Real Estate practice. Jim represents clients in complex real estate and hotel transactions with a focus on acquisitions and dispositions, financings, joint ventures and management agreements and corresponding operating agreements. His clients include hotel brands, investment banks, private equity firms and domestic and off-shore high net worth investors. Jim has deep hospitality industry experience in complex cross-border transactions.
Before joining Sidley, Jim was a managing partner at a private equity firm where he worked on multifaceted real estate transactions. Prior to that, Jim was an associate in the Los Angeles office of an international law firm.
Jim earned his J.D., with honors, from University of Texas School of Law where he was an inductee to Chancellors, the law school’s most prestigious honor society. He received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, and M.S. in Computer Science from University of Texas at Dallas. He did his undergraduate studies at Peking University Health Science Center. Jim is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
