Since its inception in 1980, our Los Angeles office has been involved in a variety of pro bono and charitable activities, including, most recently, the firm’s sponsorship of the Artspeaks series at The Colburn School, an elite music, dance and drama institution.
Artspeaks is a lecture series featuring some of the most respected and talented luminaries from the performing arts scene. As the program’s underwriter, Sidley aspires to cultivate a forum in which creative leaders and thinkers can engage in conversation and share perspectives on topics relevant to the arts. All discussions are free to the public and take place at Colburn, whose stated mission is to “provide the highest quality performing arts education at all levels of development in an optimal learning environment.”
In its first year, the series has welcomed a wide range of entertainment visionaries, from cultural commentators James Inverne and Norman Lebrecht, to legendary record producers Don Was and Martin Kierszenbaum, to Academy Award-winning film composer Michael Giacchino and TV writer and executive producer Carlton Cuse.
“After five entertaining and insightful discussions, I am proud of the overwhelming success of the series and of Sidley’s involvement,” said Brad, adding, “We are all very excited to see what the next schedule will bring.”
