The Washington Lawyers’ Committee (the Committee) presented Sidley with its “Outstanding Achievement Award” at the Wiley A. Branton Awards. The annual award recognizes law firms and lawyers in the District of Columbia area that partner with the Committee to provide legal assistance to individuals and communities who have experienced violations of their civil rights.
Sidley was selected for this honor for assisting the Committee in expanding its amicus practice, and helping to identify and participate in amicus opportunities that advance critical civil rights issues. Sidley further aided the Committee by filing an amicus brief in the Fourth Circuit in 2019 to challenge the overly expansive application of qualified immunity. The Sidley team included partners Mark P. Guerrera and Carter G. Phillips, counsel David E. Kronenberg, and associates Justin A. Benson, Joshua Moore, and Lindsay N. Walter.
