Sidley successfully represented AT&T in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit in its high-profile merger with Time Warner. On February 26, a three-judge D.C. Circuit panel, in an opinion by Judge Judith Rogers, unanimously affirmed Judge Richard Leon’s decision in favor of AT&T, which rejected the Justice Department’s effort to enjoin the merger. The Department announced later that day that it would not seek further review of the D.C. Circuit’s decision. This victory was truly a team effort. Over the past three years, a large number of Sidley lawyers from many offices, led by partner Peter Keisler, have assisted in defending AT&T in this matter.
