CALLIE BUTCHER, a senior managing associate in Sidley’s Dallas office, focuses her practice on complex patent litigation and patent licensing. Callie has been recognized in the 2021 and 2022 editions of Best Lawyers as one of the “Ones to Watch in America” and “Women In The Law: Ones To Watch” in intellectual property litigation.
Callie regularly represents clients in the Eastern, Northern, and Western Districts of Texas in litigation matters involving a variety of technologies, such as telecommunications networks (including technologies such as legacy PSTN and VoIP), wireless communications (including technologies such as cellular, Wi-Fi, UMTS, and LTE), semiconductor technologies (including device fabrication techniques, packaging, and analog and digital circuits), computer and data networks (including OSI model and the “Internet” model protocol stacks), and consumer electronics (including portable/handheld devices and wearables and associated software and hardware technologies related to operating systems and power management). Her experience in these matters includes taking and defending depositions of expert and fact witnesses, e-discovery management, preparation of invalidity contentions, claim construction, Daubert challenges, and trial preparation. Callie also has experience assisting clients in connection with IP due diligence, IP acquisitions, and patent cross-licensing investigation and negotiation.
In addition, Callie maintains an active pro bono case load and has worked on immigration proceedings, Illinois federal court cases, and Texas state court cases. In these pro bono matters, she has presented witnesses and taken a lead role in hearings.
