JASON J. LAWLER provides corporate and commercial counsel to companies in the life sciences and technology industries, particularly those on the cutting edge of biotech, food, and agricultural technology. He also advises financial and strategic investors on venture capital investments and private financings. Jason has also gained experience in the rapidly growing voluntary carbon offset market, where he provides counseling on diligence, structure, and negotiation of investments into reforestation and other emissions reduction and carbon sequestration projects. Prior to joining Sidley, he focused his practice on global finance matters, including cross-border financings, public and private company mergers, and private equity-sponsored acquisitions.
Jason earned his J.D. with a business law specialization from the UCLA School of Law, where he was a Michael T. Masin Scholar, dialectic editor for the UCLA Law Review, and executive chair of the Food Law Society. He also served as a judicial extern to the Honorable R. Gary Klausner of the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
