ALEXA PEREZ is an associate in the litigation group in the Chicago office. Her practice spans a wide range of complex commercial litigation matters and disputes, as well as internal investigations. She has represented individual and corporate clients in all phases of litigation, including drafting pleadings, managing large-scale electronic discovery and productions, taking and defending depositions, and drafting dispositive motions and briefs.
Her representative matters include:
- Representation of a Fortune 100 medical device, pharmaceutical and consumer goods manufacturing company in a securities fraud class action.
- Representation of a national hardware store in a Telephone Consumer Protections Act (TCPA) class action.
- Representation of a multi-national waste management company in a global investigation related to alleged violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) conducted by the United States Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission.
- Representation of a national accrediting agency against alleged constitutional violations.
In addition, Alexa maintains an active pro bono practice representing clients in a variety of civil matters in state and federal court. Most recently, Alexa received an Award for Excellence in Pro Bono Service from the Judges of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the Chicago Chapter of the Federal Bar Association for her successful representation of an indigent individual in a federal civil rights lawsuit against a major municipality.
Prior to joining the firm, Alexa clerked for Judge Edmond E. Chang of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. She was also a Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) Fellow at the Chicago Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights, where she drafted an amicus brief filed in the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals related to the constitutionality of campaign contributions in Illinois.
Alexa graduated from the University of Chicago Law School in 2017. While in law school, she interned for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the Mexican American Legal Defense Fund (MALDEF). Alexa earned the Pro Bono Services Initiative Award of Excellence from the University of Chicago for her commitment to pro bono during law school. Prior to law school, she graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Florida with a B.A. in English, summa cum laude.
