ANDREAS STEIGER advises secured and unsecured creditors, distressed investors, debtors, shareholders and sponsors on financial and operational restructurings in both non-insolvency and insolvency situations, predominantly in a cross-border context with a focus on complex capital structures. He also advises on all matters regarding German insolvency law.

Andreas is listed in Juve‘s 40 under 40 (2023). Legal 500 named Andreas a Next Generation Lawyer for Restructuring (Germany) in 2022 and 2023. He is also recognized in Chambers Europe 2023, where clients describe him as “very results-focused and driven.” The 2022 and 2021 editions ranked him as an up-and-coming practitioner in Restructuring/Insolvency. In the 2022 edition, clients comment that he is “extremely commercial with a very good understanding of when to push for his opinion because it matters and when to just hold still and give away some ground.” In the previous edition (2021), clients praised his “quality, work ethic, the content of his work product and his understanding of the positions of the parties involved.” In the 2020 and 2021 editions, he is recognized as a leading individual in Restructuring by Wirtschaftswoche.

Prior to joining Sidley in 2017, Andreas was a managing associate in the banking/restructuring and insolvency practice of another international law firm.

He is fluent in German and English.
