ALEXANDER TEMEL is a co-leader of Sidley’s international Private Equity practice. Alex regularly represents clients in transactions in the software, financial services, business and consumer services, oil and gas, real estate, healthcare, and media industries. Alex has a transactional practice focused on advising private equity clients in connection with leveraged recapitalizations, management buyouts, mergers and acquisitions, structured preferred and growth equity investments, and search fund transactions. He serves as primary general counsel to a number of privately held companies and represents entrepreneurs and management teams in connection with rollover transactions and new ventures.
Alex’s representative private equity clients include Bain, CapitalSpring, Goldman Sachs, Great Hill Partners, Housatonic Partners, KKR & Co. Inc., M2O Private Fund Advisors, Sixth Street, Thayer Street Partners, and TVV Capital, among others. He also represents more than 50 search funds and related investors. Alex serves as primary general counsel to a number of private companies, including BigChange, Buyers Edge Platform, EnterpriseDB, Gizmodo, Global Rescue, Ikon Science, Locus Robotics, Not On The High Street, Olmo Capital, QMC Telecom International, Prodege, PuppySpot Group, TodayTix, and Varicent.
Alex has been recognized in Corporate and M&A in The Legal 500 Latin America 2023 guide. He has also been recognized as a leading lawyer for private equity buyouts by Chambers USA since 2007 where sources have described him as a “great negotiator” who is “extremely commercial” and “very technically proficient.” Alex is a recipient of the Burton Award for Legal Achievement, an annual program held in association with the Library of Congress and designed to reward major achievements in the law.
Alex is president and chair of the board of Clubs for Kids, a charity that partners with junior golf programs around the world to provide golf equipment to youth in under-resourced communities.
