MANUEL VALDERRAMA focuses his practice on investor-state and international commercial arbitrations in Latin America and around the world. He has represented private investors, states, and state entities under the arbitral rules of major international arbitration institutions.
Prior to joining Sidley, Manuel worked in the international arbitration teams of top-tier U.S. and Chilean law firms. He also served as litigation counsel at the Human Rights Office of Chile’s Ministry of the Interior.
Manuel has experience working as a university lecturer on “International Commercial Arbitration” and “Law & Economics” at Universidad Alberto Hurtado, Chile. He was also an assistant lecturer of Public International Law, Contracts, and Constitutional Law at Universidad de Chile.
Manuel was awarded the Certificate in International Commercial Arbitration from the International Academy for Arbitration Law in Paris in 2016. He also received a Postgraduate Diploma in Construction Law and Practical Use of FIDIC Contracts from the International Federation of Consulting Engineers in 2015.
Manuel is fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
