San Diego – Sidley is pleased to announce that Michelle Doolin has joined the firm’s Litigation practice as a partner in Sidley’s office in San Diego, where she will serve as global co-leader of the firm’s Consumer Class Action practice. Ms. Doolin joins from Cooley, where she chaired the class action practice.

Ms. Doolin is a nationally recognized class action and commercial litigator who represents leading retail, consumer products, and technology companies in their most high-stakes disputes. She has a distinguished track record defending companies in consumer protection, privacy, employment, and product-related class actions across the country. Her practice spans false and deceptive advertising claims, product defect and warranty litigation, pricing and promotional practices (including hidden fees), food and beverage advertising and health related ingredient claims, privacy and data-collection related class actions, and complex wage-and-hour disputes. Ms. Doolin regularly handles high-stakes commercial litigation matters, with particular depth in nationwide and statewide class actions filed in California.

Sidley Continues to Expand M&A and Private Equity Group With Partner Timothy FitzSimons in Chicago

Chicago – Sidley is pleased to announce that Timothy FitzSimons has joined the firm’s M&A and Private Equity group in Sidley’s office in Chicago. Mr. FitzSimons joins from King & Spalding, where he was a partner in the firm’s Corporate practice.

Mr. FitzSimons has more than two decades of experience representing clients on public and private merger and acquisition transactions totaling more than US$200 billion. In addition to representing public clients in corporate governance, shareholder activism and proxy fight matters, he represents public and private companies on complex M&A transactions. Mr. FitzSimons’ broad transactional experience includes tender offers, carve-outs, cross-border transactions, stock-for-stock mergers, and deSPAC transactions. He also has deep experience advising special committees and independent directors on conflict-of-interest transactions, including take-private transactions. He also regularly counsels public companies and their boards on governance matters.

New York – Sidley is pleased to announce that Ji Hye You has joined the firm’s Global Finance group as a partner in Sidley’s office in New York. She was previously a Private Credit Group partner at Proskauer Rose.

Ms. You represents alternative lenders, financial institutions, corporate borrowers, financial sponsors and their portfolio companies in a broad range of sophisticated debt and equity financing transactions. She has extensive experience structuring and negotiating domestic and cross-border financings and special situations transactions, including cash flow and asset-based financings, acquisition financings, recapitalization and other leveraged financings, first lien and second lien transactions, split collateral financings, and debtor-in-possession and exit financings. Ms. You’s practice spans a wide range of industries, including retail, manufacturing, agribusiness, real estate, technology, healthcare, food and beverage, and sports and entertainment.

“Ji Hye has a strong background in distressed credit and bankruptcy restructuring, which is particularly valuable to our clients,” said Yvette Ostolaza, Sidley’s Management Committee Chair. “She has excellent relationships with a number of private credit clients and has worked with or across the table from multiple Sidley partners.”
