Implicit biases can prevent lawyers from effectively integrating diverse individuals into collaborative and productive teams. They can block efficient and creative solutions to legal problems, heighten conflict, decrease lawyer retention and ultimately increase law firm or legal department costs. There are, however, ways to avoid these pitfalls. Highly acclaimed lecturer on this topic, UCLA’s Vice Chancellor for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and Law School Professor Jerry Kang has conducted research, taught and written exclusively on this topic.
Please join us for a networking reception followed by Professor Kang’s presentation on how implicit bias impacts the integration of individuals into teams, undermines effective team function and strategizes to minimize these negative results.
All guests will have the opportunity to meet Professor Kang.
