The National Law Journal (NLJ) named Sidley to its 2019 “Appellate Hot List.” The annual list honors “appellate luminaries” who won key matters before the U.S. Supreme Court and federal courts of appeals.
Sidley received praise for the firm’s representation of AT&T Inc. in the government’s appeal of the AT&T/Time Warner merger decision – the first time in more than four decades that the government litigated to judgment a case challenging a vertical merger. In an interview with the NLJ, practice co-lead Peter Keisler noted that the Sidley team “brings the same high level of innovation and professionalism to our cases regardless of whether we are representing a multibillion-dollar corporation or an indigent pro bono client.” These attributes were integral to addressing the many cutting-edge issues presented in the AT&T/Time Warner case.
Sidley was one of the first law firms to establish a dedicated Supreme Court and Appellate practice. The acclaimed team is widely recognized for its leadership in addressing novel and intricate questions of federal and state law, representing clients before the U.S. Supreme Court, all federal courts of appeals as well as state appellate and supreme courts.
