The 2019 IFR Asia Awards will honor two deals on which Sidley advised — Fosun International Limited’s €400m 4.35% senior notes due 2023 as the “High Yield Deal of the Year” and PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk’s US$650m 7.375% bonds due 2026 as “Indonesia Capital Markets Deal of the Year.”
Sidley advised Fosun as issuer’s legal counsel in its offering of €400 million 4.35% senior notes due 2023, through its subsidiary Fortune Star. This bond offering is the first euro denominated and non-investment grade bond issuance by a Chinese company. The Sidley team was led by partners Carrie Li and Oliver Zhong in Hong Kong and Matthew Sheridan in Singapore.
Sidley represented Standard Chartered Bank, ANZ, DBS Bank Ltd., ING and Mandiri Securities in connection with the US$550 million bridge-to-bond financing to fund the acquisition by PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk of Ophir Energy plc, a London-listed oil and gas exploration and production company. This transaction is one of only a few public M&A financings using a bridge-to-bond structure in the London Stock Exchange. The Sidley team was led by Singapore partner Matthew Sheridan and included partners Charlie Wilson in Singapore, Alan G. Grinceri in London, Kelly Dybala in Dallas, James Crooks in London, and counsel Alexius Chong in Singapore.
