Pitt Law Women’s Association (PLWA) presented Chicago partner Marketa Lindt with its “Marjorie Matson Woman of the Year” award. Marjorie Matson was a prominent Pitt Law alumna with a distinguished career in civil rights and First Amendment law. In the spirit of Matson’s leadership, activism and civic involvement, PLWA hosts an annual award dinner celebrating an outstanding Pitt Law graduate.
Marketa was selected for the honor based on her successful corporate immigration practice at Sidley and her role as a leader of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). This year, as the national AILA President, Marketa has worked to reshape the field of immigration law through a new focus on federal litigation, establishing AILA’s first litigation department to lead impact litigation and to support the efforts of individual immigration lawyers to challenge agency denials in court. Marketa is a national speaker and author in immigration law and policy and is also involved in Chicago-area organizations that assist underserved immigrant communities.
