The National Immigrant Justice Center has named Chicago associates Xenia Chiu and P.C. Wang as “Rising Stars” at its 2021 Human Rights Awards. For the past two decades, the National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) Human Rights Awards has honored human rights champions and business, civic, and community leaders. Honorees have partnered with the organization to provide legal services to countless people. NIJC, one of the United States’ leading human rights organizations, works to establish and defend the legal rights of immigrants regardless of background and transform the immigration system to one that affords equal opportunity for all. Over three decades, the organization has achieved reforms for a more humane immigration system through litigation and policy advocacy.
Xenia Chiu is an associate in Sidley’s Chicago office and practices in the Corporate group. Xenia represents buyers and sellers in M&A transactions, as well as institutional investors and emerging companies in a variety of venture capital investments. Xenia also represents limited partnerships and fund sponsors in connection with the formation and operation of, and investments into, private equity and venture capital funds. Xenia also advises public and private companies on a variety of corporate governance matters.
P.C. Wang is a corporate associate in Sidley’s Chicago office and a member of the firm’s global Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation practice group. He advises clients on executive compensation, equity compensation, and employee benefits issues in connection with corporate transactions. P.C. also maintains an active pro bono practice and was a recipient of the firm’s “Thomas H. Morsch Award for Pro Bono Achievement” in recognition for his work in assisting clients with obtaining permanent residency and asylum in the United States and coaching mock trials for underprivileged students in Chicago Public Schools.
