JACK ETCHINGHAM is a litigation associate in the firm’s Chicago office.
Jack graduated from Chicago-Kent College of Law as the valedictorian of his class. While at Chicago-Kent, Jack received the 2018 Ilana Diamond Rovner Award as the winner of the school’s annual appellate advocacy competition and earned the Chicago-Kent Certificate of Service in recognition of over 50 hours of community service. He also devoted significant time toward obtaining practical legal experience, externing for a federal judge and for the United States Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of Illinois. Before law school, Jack worked as a technology risk consultant at a Global Big Four audit and consulting firm, where he helped clients manage the risks and benefits associated with the development and implementation of emerging technologies. He received his B.S. in Finance, with high honors, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Before joining Sidley, Jack served as a Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) Fellow at Illinois Legal Aid Online, where he wrote and maintained legal content for self-represented audiences, particularly those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. He now sits on ILAO’s Young Professionals Board. Jack maintains an active pro bono practice supporting the firm’s Capital Litigation and Section 1983 projects.
