VALERIE TRUONG is a Technology and Life Sciences Transactions, Emerging Companies & Venture Capital, and Mergers & Acquisitions managing associate, and a member of the firm’s Technology Industry group. Valerie advises clients at every stage of their growth, from Series A financings through IPOs or sales on a wide range of IP-related issues. Her practice focuses on representing clients in the social media, e-commerce, consumer products, software, and life sciences sectors.
Valerie counsels clients on technology-related commercial transactions, including: ownership and licensing of copyrights, trademarks, patents and trade secrets; technology development and distribution; manufacturing, supply and distribution transactions; inbound and outbound technology licenses; OEM and reseller agreements; partnership agreements; preload program agreements; SMS delivery service agreements; material transfer agreements; investigator-initiated research agreements; professional services and support; terms of use; confidentiality agreements; and marketing and promotional relationships.
Valerie earned her J.D. from University of California, Berkeley where she was the articles editor for the Berkeley Technology Law Journal and symposium editor for the Asian American Law Journal. During law school, Valerie advised early-stage startups in UC Berkeley's SkyDeck Accelerator Program through Berkeley Law’s New Business Community Law Clinic to develop IP strategy, manage risk, navigate regulatory and policy issues and establish key relationships among founders, investors, and suppliers. In addition, Valerie served as an in-house legal intern at a Fortune 100 publicly traded Silicon Valley technology company, focusing on issues related to cloud computing and data privacy.
