On March 23, 2017, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) issued a consultation paper on a proposed framework for Singapore variable capital companies (Consultation Paper), a legislative framework for a new corporate structure that is tailored for collective investment schemes.
On September 10, 2018, the MAS issued its response to the feedback received in relation to the Consultation Paper (Response). Further, on the same day, the Second Minister for Finance of Singapore, Ms. Indranee Rajah, moved the Variable Capital Companies Bill (Bill) for its first reading in the Parliament of Singapore. In addition, the MAS issued an explanatory brief on the Bill.
We will issue a full briefing on the Response and the Bill shortly.
