The Deal has recognized Sharon R. Flanagan and Sara Garcia Duran on its 2023 “Top Women in Dealmaking” list. Sharon has been named to the list of top M&A dealmakers, and Sara has been included in the Private Equity list. The annual feature honors “exemplary women in the legal profession with a focus on M&A, private equity, restructuring, and activist investing.”
Sharon is a member of the firm’s Management Committee and Executive Committee and has over 25 years of experience representing companies in a broad range of merger and acquisition transactions, securities offerings, and corporate governance matters, with a particular focus on the life sciences/healthcare and technology industries. Sharon also serves as the San Francisco office managing partner, and is a leader of the firm’s Global Life Sciences practice.
Sara focuses her practice on complex corporate and transactional matters, including representation of private equity firms and public companies in connection with public and private acquisitions, divestitures, and investment transactions. She also advises clients with respect to general corporate governance matters and compliance with applicable securities regulations. Sara also leads Sidley’s Women in M&A initiative, a group of women lawyers at Sidley aligned with the American Bar Association’s Women in M&A Task Force in our shared goal to increase the participation and retention of women M&A lawyers in law firms.
