Sidley is representing International Paper Co. (IP), a global provider of renewable fiber-based packaging and pulp products, as U.S. antitrust counsel in connection with its US$9.9 billion acquisition of DS Smith PLC, a UK-based packaging provider. This all-share combination is expected to bolster IP’s global packaging business, creating a global leader in sustainable packaging solutions. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2024.
