Digital Media and Entertainment
Digital technologies have emerged as one of the primary - if not the primary - means of distributing films, television, music, books, magazines, games and other forms of entertainment and information. That emergence has engendered legal and business issues for which there is often virtually no precedent. Drawing on our experience across multiple disciplines and industries, we have helped industry leaders invent the legal and business frameworks that make possible new forms of digital content distribution and consumption. Today we negotiate all aspects of transactions involving the creation, protection, distribution and use of digital media and related technologies and help clients develop related strategies and business models.
We have particular experience with:
- Digital media distribution deals with leaders in the movie, television, music and publishing industries (including most major film studios, television and cable networks, music labels and book and periodical publishers);
- Development and distribution deals for massively-multiplayer online and other video games;
- Licensing deals for the technologies employed to enable or facilitate the distribution of digital media; and
- Development and licensing deals for the consumer platforms through which digital media is accessed (including social networking websites, broadband-enabled televisions and Blu-ray Disc players, and iPhone, Android and other mobile device applications).
