Sidley's Diversity and Inclusion Committee held a panel discussion featuring Jon Harris Maurer, Public Policy Director at Equality Florida; David Hinojosa, Director of the Educational Opportunities Project; and Alice O’Brien, General Counsel for the National Education Association, who engaged in a dialogue about recent state-level initiatives that have restricted academic instruction and dialogue on important social issues related to race, sexual orientation, and gender identity. The panelists covered the impact these policies may have on students, teachers, and the broader community, and discussed the work their organizations and others are doing to oppose such measures.
