Hong Kong partner Effie Vasilopoulos has been named to IFLR1000’s Women Leaders 2021 list. This is the fourth consecutive year she has been recognized in the annual supplement, which features an elite cohort of the leading women transactional professionals in local markets globally.
Effie is a member of Sidley’s Executive Committee and co-leads the firm’s global Investment Funds group. She focuses on investment fund formation transactions, particularly the development of innovative investment fund structures and financial products, including private equity, hedge, real estate, infrastructure, credit, venture capital, special situations, and other hybrid fund arrangements. Effie is recognized as a leading authority in the funds area in Asia, having been involved in a number of ground-breaking deals in the Asia region over the last several years.
Effie has been recognized as a leading authority in the private fund area in Asia for many years by Chambers Asia-Pacific, IFLR1000, Legal 500 Asia Pacific, AsiaLaw Profiles, and the International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers. Euromoney Legal Media Group, 100 Women in Finance, and IFLR1000 Asia Best Lawyers have each conferred industry leadership awards, in recognition of her leadership and achievement in the fund management industry in Asia over many years. She has also been listed by Legal Media Group’s Expert Guides as one of the world’s leading lawyers for investment funds. Effie was also honored with the “Gold Award” at The Law Society of Hong Kong’s Pro Bono and Community Work Recognition Programme in 2019 and 2020. She received the award for leading Sidley’s team in connection with a number of pro bono projects including the firm’s work in developing a new domestic private fund regime benefiting the private equity, venture capital, real estate, infrastructure, credit, and hedge fund segments of the market.
