CYNTHIA CHRISTIAN is counsel in the firm’s Los Angeles office and practices in the Real Estate group. Cynthia represents banks and other institutional investors with respect to equity investments in real property transactions generating Low-Income Housing Tax Credits under Section 42 of the Internal Revenue Code or Rehabilitation Tax Credits for historic structures under Section 47 of the Internal Revenue Code, including direct investments and secondary market transactions.
From 1996 until 2014, Cynthia served as Senior Director and Associate General Counsel of Edison Capital, a provider of capital and financial services for energy and other infrastructure related projects, and Edison Mission Energy, an independent power producer. At Edison, she was responsible for a variety of legal matters, including acquisition, syndication and restructuring transactions involving the company’s affordable housing portfolio as well as the development, construction and financing of energy facilities across the United States with an emphasis on wind energy and other renewable energy facilities qualifying for either Production Tax Credits or Investment Tax Credits under Sections 45 and 48 of the Internal Revenue Code. Prior to working at Edison, Cynthia was a real estate associate at an international law firm. She earned her J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law and her B.A., magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, also from the University of California, Los Angeles.
