|Twiga Foods is a Kenyan-based business-to-business (B2B) m-commerce and produce distribution platform focused on supply to informal stores, kiosks or micro and medium sized vendors in East-Africa. Twiga is essentially building a commodity marketplace to connect farmers with customers using a business to business model and mobile technology. The company provides these farmers and vendors a ready access to market and better prices for their goods. Twiga works with 2,500 rural small-scale farmers, providing information on weather forecasts, markets prices, financial services and best farming practices to enable them expand their production. Their value chain model also enables farmers to sell right on their farms without having to travel several miles to get their produce on the market, especially when most (80%) of the produce are sent to urban cities, coupled with bad roads which makes perishable goods like tomatoes and banana get rotten before reaching the markets. They are also looking to become a full stock M-Commerce platform for small businesses in 2017. Please see more: http://twigafoods.com/
