Tung has been consistently recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® for Intellectual Property and Patent Litigation, most recently in its 2026 edition.

Tung represents clients in patent and trade secret litigation, both offensively and defensively, in federal courts and before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). He has extensive experience across all phases of litigation—from pre-suit investigation through trial and post-trial motions—in cases involving a wide range of technologies, including:

Telecommunications and encryption (cellular, Wi-Fi, UMTS, LTE)
Semiconductors (device fabrication, packaging, and analog and digital circuits), microprocessors, and memory (DRAM, flash, and data storage techniques)
Solar cells and modules
Computer graphics, video compression, user interfaces, and displays (LCD, plasma, and laser-based displays)
Medical devices
Tung also has substantial experience with standard essential patents (SEPs) and is familiar with the major standards-setting organizations, including the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), and the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).

In addition to his litigation practice, Tung handles inter partes reviews and ex parte reexaminations before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), as well as licensing matters, both offensive and defensive. He advises clients on technology and intellectual property agreements, patent portfolio strategy, and defense against patent assertions by practicing and non-practicing entities. Tung has also assisted clients in obtaining hundreds of U.S. patents across diverse fields such as software, mechanical and electronic devices, industrial equipment, optics, and telecommunications.

Prior to law school, Tung worked as an electrical engineer for ElectroSpace Systems and Comsat RSI, where he designed and integrated antenna control systems for satellite communications systems and radio telescopes. His projects included the control system for the Green Bank Telescope, the world’s largest fully steerable radio telescope
