“Being promoted to partner in the same year I had my son and got married is definitely what I am most proud of achieving so far.”
What attracted you to the practice of law and what aspect of your practice do you enjoy the most?
I always enjoyed the substance of the law, but also being creative in applying the law to help clients solve the complex issues they face. What I enjoy most about practicing antitrust/competition law is the diversity of cases I get to work on and collaborating with my brilliant colleagues on them — there is nothing more energizing than solving a really difficult case as a team.
Tell us about a professional goal you are proud of achieving, and what (or who) inspired you to go for it.
Being promoted to partner in the same year I had my son and got married is definitely what I am most proud of achieving so far.
What is the most memorable case you led and what made it so memorable?
I have been lucky to work on many fascinating cases over the years, but I would say the Shop Apotheke case was exciting because it was my first case before the Court of Justice of the European Union. It resulted in an important victory for the client, one of the largest mail-order pharmacies in Europe. We also received the “Impact Case of the Year Award” at the LMG Life Sciences Awards 2021 Europe for this case.
On a personal note, what is your go-to self-care activity?
At the top of the list is spending time with my family outdoors and going for long walks in the forest. We also recently bought a piano, which has allowed me to start practicing again. Whenever I can, I go running and take boxing classes to clear my head.
Can you share with us a saying or quote that gives you inspiration or helps you stay centered?
“Don’t ever make decisions based on fear. Make decisions based on hope and possibility. Make decisions based on what should happen, not what shouldn’t” (Michelle Obama).
It reminds me to focus on the positive, step outside my comfort zone, and keep looking for opportunities to grow.
