In 2012, to further advance Sidley’s DE&I goals, Sidley created its Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship with one goal: to increase diversity at Sidley and in the legal profession by easing the financial burden related to the costs of a law school education. Through this initiative, the firm annually awards a select number of scholarships, each totaling $25,000 (less any applicable withholdings and taxes), to exceptional rising 2Ls who accept an offer to join Sidley’s summer associate program. Since 2012, the firm has awarded 190 scholarships valued at over $4 million.

Sidley will select scholarship recipients from among eligible applicants who have demonstrated academic excellence and leadership qualities and have demonstrated exceptional ability through contributions to diversity and inclusion or other extraordinary accomplishments, ability to overcome adversity, and/or past participation or interest in assisting with the firm’s diversity and inclusion initiatives.
