MERAV BENNETT's practice spans a wide range of complex commercial litigation matters, with a focus on securities and shareholder derivative matters and appellate litigation. She has experience in fact development and discovery, as well as in drafting court of appeals and Supreme Court briefs in patent and trade secrets litigation, administrative law, and constitutional civil rights cases.
Before joining Sidley, Merav clerked for Judge Gary Feinerman of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and served as a Public Interest Law Initiative Fellow at the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Illinois, where she worked to reform police practices and promote women’s and reproductive rights through impact litigation. She graduated from the University of Chicago Law School with highest honors, where she served as an Academic Advisor for first-year law students and as an editor of the University of Chicago Law Review. She also participated in the Supreme Court and Appellate Clinic and interned for Judge John Z. Lee of the Northern District of Illinois. Merav received her B.A. in Music, summa cum laude, from Yale University.
