Beneficiaries                  Lower-income workers

Project Description Millestone is an innovative UK-based start-up company that facilitates access to pension products and services to low-income workers (<USD20/day) in developing countries in West Africa and beyond (80% of whom work in the informal sector). At the moment, pensions are only readily available to formal-sector workers, excluding the vast majority of working-age adults. Millestone was established by Eugene Adogla (Ghanaian, background in microinsurance operations across Africa) and Jason Allen (Cambridge law academic with experience in capital markets and micro-enterprises in Africa) in 2016. Millestone acts as a technology-enabled market penetration facilitator for established pension trustees/fund managers seeking to serve the lower-income segments with new and differentiated services. Millestone has received positive feedback from these large, established pension funds who are keen to utilise Millestone's solutions and guidance, and is on the cusp of launching in Ghana in early 2018.
