Topics addressed include: the legal bases for class actions, what types of claims may be filed as class actions, what types of relief may be sought through class actions, the procedural and substantive requirements for a case proceeding as a class action, the requirements for settling a class action, and the role of discovery, arbitration, regulators, third-party funding, and contingency fee agreements in class actions. Joel S. Feldman (Chicago) and Joshua E. Anderson (LA) are contributing editors of the book and authored the United States chapter. Steven Pitt and Frances Macduff (both from London) authored the England and Wales chapter, and Tomoo Nishikawa and Takahiro Nonaka (both from Tokyo) authored the Japan chapter.
