London – Sidley is proud to launch its inaugural corporate responsibility and sustainability (CR&S) apprenticeship, and is recruiting for an administrative role to underscore its commitment to supporting environmental and social change initiatives across the firm.
The recruited CR&S apprentice will report to the HR & Diversity Director, Pro Bono Counsel, and Diversity and Corporate Responsibility Specialist, learning across all disciplines to support a wide variety of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI), Pro Bono, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and Sustainability matters.
Typical tasks will include planning and rolling out CR&S initiatives, projects, and events, including Sidley’s partnership with YMCA London City and North and the broader London and Global Sustainability Programme. The selected individual will also support the firm’s pro bono projects.
We are committed to providing our apprentice with formal education to support on-the-job learning and professional experience. The apprentice will therefore undertake a Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Practitioner (Level 4) diploma programme with registered EQA provider Ofqual. We are excited by the prospect of the skills the individual will be able to bring back to Sidley.
Whilst formal work experience is not required, the chosen candidate must have a demonstrable passion for DEI, CSR, and charitable initiatives, and be enthusiastic about the prospect of applying this fervor to an administrative role involving end-to-end project management and pro bono support.
The programme, now open to applications, will take place over a 20-month period.
Speaking of the newly launched programme, Chloe O’Brien, pro bono counsel said: “We are delighted to be launching Sidley’s first corporate responsibility and sustainability apprenticeship and look forward to bringing on board an individual to support our progressive DEI, CSR, Pro Bono, and Sustainability initiatives. Sidley is proud to offer employees myriad opportunities to apply their talents toward important, challenging projects on a global stage, and the CR&S apprenticeship is a representation of this promise and commitment.
“DEI, CSR, Pro Bono, and Sustainability are specialised, yet well-established sectors requiring unique skill sets from the professionals working within them. Our goal is to improve the pathway into these professionalisms via our apprenticeship and ultimately train and develop an individual who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to become a sector specialist.
“Sidley is a staunch proponent of law firm DEI and the CR&S apprenticeship is an embodiment of our efforts to create opportunities for legal-sector professionals of all backgrounds.
“We are excited to welcome the successful candidate to the team.”
To be considered, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Hold five GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths and English (non-UK qualifications also considered)
- Age 18 or over by 1 September 2022
- Not undertaking another apprenticeship or government-funded qualification at the same time
