Sidley associate Eduardo Marquez Certucha has been shortlisted for the International Bar Association’s (IBA) “Pro Bono Award” for his role in Sidley's Emerging Enterprises Pro Bono Program. Every year, the IBA presents this honor to a lawyer who has showcased outstanding commitment to pro bono work throughout their legal career.
The IBA lauded Eduardo as “an outstanding lawyer” for his participation in the Emerging Enterprises Pro Bono Program, which is aimed at benefitting poor, rural, and disadvantaged communities, particularly women, by supporting local businesses that provide enhanced employment and livelihood opportunities. His dedication is evidenced by the long hours he has worked and the countless clients he has helped. He has also undertaken the commitment to become the first South and Central America Coordinator for the program. Eduardo also regularly assists in immigration workshops and has helped clients in filing for asylum and refugee status in the United States, including individuals from Africa, Mexico, and Central America.
