Sidley partner Nilofer Umar has been selected for the Class of 2023 Leadership Greater Chicago (LGC) Signature Fellows Program. As the region’s premier civic leadership development program, LGC immerses its fellows in the major socioeconomic issues facing the community, allowing them to build connections to facilitate solutions. Selection into the LGC Signature Fellows Program is based on a record of professional accomplishment, evidence of leadership skills, the potential to influence positive change, and a commitment to the region.
Nilofer is Chicago co-chair of Sidley’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee. She serves on the boards of CARPLS, Cook County’s largest provider of free legal services, and Kohl Children’s Museum, an institution that is committed to fostering a love of learning in children.
Nilofer is a Chambers-ranked lawyer who focuses on the representation of corporations, boards of directors, and directors and officers in federal securities class actions, shareholder derivative suits, M&A litigation, proceedings before the Securities and Exchange Commission, and in connection with shareholder demands and special committee investigations.
