Biography
ELIZABETH BUESCHER focuses her practice on complex business transactions, including M&A and private equity investments, as well as corporate governance and securities compliance matters.
Prior to joining Sidley, Liz worked in corporate risk management at a global aerospace and defense company. Liz also has experience working in financial risk management at one of the largest global automotive companies.
Liz received her J.D., cum laude, from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law. While in law school, Liz was treasurer of the Student Bar Association and an executive editor of the Northwestern Journal of International Law and Business. Liz also participated in the Donald Pritzker Entrepreneurship Law Center, where she assisted small businesses with various legal matters. Liz was also a Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) Fellow at Illinois Legal Aid Online.
Liz received her A.B. from Brown University with a double concentration in Economics and Public Policy and American Institutions.

Representative Matters
- FMR LLC, the parent company of Fidelity Investments, in obtaining a landmark approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) to convert Fidelity’s New York limited purpose trust company into a national trust bank licensed by the OCC to engage in a broad range of business activities in the digital assets space.
- BBQGuys, a leading e-commerce retailer of outdoor living products, in its acquisition of Mont Alpi, a premium manufacturer of modular outdoor kitchen islands and grills.
- Accommodations Plus International (API) in its sale to Haveli Investments.
- Telephone and Data Systems, Inc. (NYSE: TDS) in the US$4.4 billion sale of United States Cellular Corporation’s (NYSE: USM) wireless operations and select spectrum assets to T-Mobile US, Inc. (NASDAQ: TMUS), including a combination of cash and up to approximately US$2 billion of assumed debt.
- Gamma Biosciences, a life sciences platform established by KKR to address the advanced therapy bioprocessing market, in its US$600 million sale of Mirus Bio to Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany (XTRA:MRK).
