Biography

JOHN EASTON focuses his practice on global finance, representing public and private companies in a broad range of debt transactions, including acquisition financings, working capital credit facilities and ongoing debt service matters.

John earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from SMU Dedman School of Law, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif. While in law school, John completed the Business Law Concentration, served as a Rowling Scholar with the Rowling Center for Business Law & Leadership, and gained in-house experience with a financial institution through the Corporate Counsel Externship Program. John also served as a summer law clerk for the Honorable A. Joe Fish at the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas and the Honorable Edward L. Morris at the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas. Additionally, he was a finalist for the Dallas Bar Association’s Securities Law Scholarship and conducted directed research in securities law under Professor Marc I. Steinberg.

Prior to law school, John attended the University of Virginia, where he earned is B.A., with distinction, in foreign affairs and religious studies, along with a minor in entrepreneurship.
