Biography

REBECCA LEWIS TIERNEY advises clients on derivatives regulation, enforcement, and compliance. She represents clients in government and self-regulatory organization (“SRO”) investigations and counsels them on compliance with Commodity Futures Trading Commission (“CFTC”) regulations and SRO rules.

Rebecca also has significant litigation experience, including drafting dispositive motions and handling complex fact and expert discovery, as well as taking and defending depositions.

Before joining Sidley, Rebecca served as counsel to a commissioner at the CFTC. Prior to law school, she was a financial markets analyst at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, where she focused on derivatives regulation and financial market infrastructures.

Rebecca serves on the finance council at Mary, Mother of God parish.

Pro Bono

Rebecca maintains an active pro bono practice, representing asylum applicants and incarcerated plaintiffs suing for violations of Constitutional rights.
