DAVID TANG is a partner in Sidley’s San Francisco office and member of Sidley’s Investment Funds and Private Equity practices. David focuses on legal, structural and strategic issues of special concern to private investment fund managers and sponsors. He regularly advises clients on securities law compliance matters arising in connection with fund formation and fund investment activities, in addition to structural and economic considerations arising in connection with fund and management company formation. David also represents clients in negotiated transactions, including portfolio company investments, fund investor side letters and “seed” investments, investment management agreements, acquisitions and dispositions and other strategic transactions.
David was named to Who’s Who Legal: Private Funds 2017 and was recommended by The Legal 500 US 2015 and 2016 for Investment Fund Formation and Management. He was recognized as a “Rising Star” in the 2014 and 2015 editions of IFLR1000 for Investment Funds in the United States as well as a Northern California Rising Star in 2010. The Best Lawyers in America 2020 edition named David among the leading lawyers for Corporate Law.
David earned his J.D. from Stanford Law School, his M.S. from Cornell University and his B.S. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
