JOHN ZAPPIA advises energy and infrastructure clients on complex corporate and transactional matters, with a primary focus on mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, and private equity transactions. He represents public and private companies, private equity sponsors and portfolio companies in connection with acquisitions, investments, divestitures, strategic relationships, joint ventures, and various other types of transactions. John also provides general advice to clients with respect to corporate governance. He has represented clients in a variety of industries, including wind, solar, battery storage, carbon capture, biodiesel, midstream, downstream, power generation, LNG, nuclear, and waste collection, transportation, disposal, and recycling.
In addition to his transactional practice, John has provided pro bono services to clients with regard to various matters, including expunction proceedings, nondisclosure proceedings, estate planning, conservatorship proceedings, and immigration matters.
John earned his J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law, where he was recognized with the “Dean’s Achievement Award” as an Outstanding Student in Real Estate Finance. He also holds a B.A. in political science from the University of California, Los Angeles, where he played Division I volleyball from 2012–2016.
John was the recipient of the 2018 Pac-12 Conference Post-graduate Scholarship award.
