Sidley Continues Tax Practice Growth With Michael Alcan in Century City

Century City – Sidley is pleased to announce that Michael Alcan has joined the firm’s Tax practice as a partner in Sidley’s office in Century City. He was previously a Tax partner in the Los Angeles office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP.

Mr. Alcan advises investment funds, private equity sponsors, and other clients on the tax considerations that arise across complex transactions and investment structures. His experience spans domestic and cross-border fund formation, fund restructurings, continuation funds, GP stakes, and fund financing transactions, as well as sponsor-level tax planning. He also counsels clients on tax issues related to M&A, capital markets transactions, restructurings, and joint ventures, including matters with cross-border elements.

Michael’s arrival follows the additions of Tax partners Deborah Paul, Greg Featherman, and James Gouwar in New York earlier in 2026, further expanding Sidley’s tax capabilities across investment funds, M&A and other corporate transactions, cross-border investments, and structured finance. Mr. Gouwar joined as part of a five-partner team alongside Global Finance partners Lee Askenazi, Alistair Dunlop, Robert Hagan, and Rebecca O’Brien.
