Sidley Client Clearlake Capital Group’s Acquisition of Chelsea Football Club Named “Deal of the Year in EMEA”

Clearlake Capital Group, L.P.’s acquisition of Chelsea Football Club has been named “Deal of the Year in EMEA” at the Private Equity International Awards 2022. The annual awards recognize the top deals, law firms, and financial institutions across the Americas, Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Sidley represented Clearlake in the landmark acquisition of the UK Premier League’s Chelsea Football Club and related affiliates. The deal, which was announced May 9, 2022, was reported to be one of the most significant sports deals in history.
