Sidley Takes Home Pioneering Spirit Award at the 2025 GRR Awards

Sidley has won the “Pioneering Spirit Award” at the 2025 Global Restructuring Review Awards, recognized for its counsel to Sino Ocean in its restructuring of approximately US$6 billion in offshore debt. This restructuring is the first-ever “cram across” in which Hong Kong-governed debt was used to cram down English law-governed debt through a twin Part 26A Restructuring Plan and Hong Kong scheme of arrangement, and the first time that a company in the China real estate sector has used an English Restructuring Plan.

The annual awards, presented by Global Restructuring Review, celebrate standout individuals and practices that have made a significant impact on the restructuring community over the past year. In particular, the “Pioneering Spirit Award” recognizes “a bold or unprecedented move led by a firm within a restructuring or insolvency.”
