Sidley Represents Heath Freeman in BIG3 Miami Expansion

Sidley represented media, sports, real estate, and hospitality executive, Heath Freeman, in the acquisition of the second-ever location-based BIG3 franchise with plans to base the team in Miami. BIG3 is a 3-on-3 professional basketball league co-founded by producer, actor, and music legend Ice Cube and entertainment executive Jeff Kwatinetz. Freeman will take ownership for the 2025 season, when all BIG3 teams will represent home markets. Among other investments in sports, Freeman is the managing partner of the Florida Freedom, which plays in the PBR (Professional Bull Riders), and is based out of the Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida. He is also executive chairman of the AVP, the premier beach volleyball league in the world.

The Sidley team was led by partner and Entertainment, Sports and Media (ESM) co-chair Charles (Chuck) Baker, ESM partner Eric Geffner, and Private Equity partner David D’Urso. The team also included managing associate Dylan Sherwyn and associate Alyssa Levy (both M&A/Private Equity/ESM).
