Law360 Profiles Sidley as a 2025 Private Equity Practice Group of the Year

Sidley was named a 2025 “Private Equity Practice Group of the Year” by Law360, affirming yet again Sidley’s status among the elite global law firms advising private equity sponsors. This marks the second time within the last five years that Sidley earned this recognition. Law360 highlighted the tremendous growth of the M&A and Private Equity group, co-led by Perry Shwachman and Mehdi Khodadad, both of whom emphasized the firm’s unique ability to support private equity clients across a fully integrated platform.

Noting that clients value the team’s collaborative approach, Shwachman said, “I think we’ve done a really good job of bringing people from different offices, different groups and just working together and having fun together. And that encourages growth within our firm.”

Khodadad spoke to the firm’s depth of services, saying, “We wouldn’t be doing a large pension deal if we didn’t have the number one insurance practice; we wouldn’t be doing a financial services-type deal like Dun & Bradstreet if we didn’t have the capital markets, finance, and all the other capabilities for that sort of transaction.”

Sidley is a long-time force in the private equity industry ― representing many of the world’s most significant private equity firms in their most strategic transactions around the globe. In 2025, Sidley’s 575+ private equity/M&A team handled more than 750 private equity transactions, worth US$700 billion in deal value. The team consistently ranks among the leaders in the PE league tables in virtually all major categories.
