Joel Sontag

JOEL SONTAG focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, and emerging companies and venture capital. He regularly supports clients on structuring, diligence, and complex governance considerations.

Prior to joining Sidley, Joel was a law clerk at The Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law and a judicial intern for The Honorable Leon Ruchelsman of the Kings County Supreme Court in Brooklyn, New York.

While attending Columbia Law School, Joel served as the tech editor of the Columbia Science and Technology Law Review. He was recognized as a "James Kent Scholar" in 2024.
