Project Description

La Petite Damba is an agricultural and social entrepreneurship company established in 2016 and headquartered in Conakry, Guinea, a small country of 246,000 square kilometers on the west coast of Africa, bordering Sierra Leone, Liberia, Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, and the Atlantic Ocean. Since its establishment in 2016, La Petite Damba has specialized in the processing, packaging, marketing, and distribution of high quality food products sourced from various rural communities across Guinea, in partnership with cooperatives and local small farmers (mostly represented by women). La Petite Damba’s portfolio is made of three products which are inclusive of: i) Fonio ii) Hot (spicy) Pepper and iii) Palm Oil. These products are distributed within the domestic market in Guinea and exported across the west African, European and North American regions.

The company’s most successful and most profitable product is the Fonio. Taking that into consideration and leveraging the fact that Guinea is the largest Fonio producer in the world, accounting for 75% of global Fonio production, the strategic decision as an organization has been to drive the Fonio production and storage capacity to maximize yield sales domestically and beyond, improve margins. As a staple food, Fonio now has global recognition by industry experts as a specialty food in export markets such as the U.S. and Europe, given its high nutritional value, gluten-free content, and great taste. It is commonly used in dishes as a healthy replacement for rice or quinoa. From a product sourcing perspective, La Petite Damba has partnered with two women's groups in the Dalaba region. These two groups impact a total of 65 women daily with whom La Petite Damba buys all of its production.

This family owned company strives to be the leader in supplying local Guinean products to customers all over the world while promoting and supporting a great partnership that will help support local farmers and their families. More info at: https://www.lapetitedamba.com/
