On Thursday, February 29, Legal Services Corporation (LSC) hosted an event in celebration of their 50th anniversary, marking five decades of striving to make equal access to our justice system a reality for all Americans. Sidley senior counsel John Levi, LSC Board Chair, and Martha Minow, MacArthur Foundation Board Chair, opened the half-day symposium and reception with remarks. Leaders from the legal, business, and professional sports communities, including Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, spoke during the program.
John Levi was appointed by President Obama to the 11-member Board of Directors of LSC, confirmed by the Senate, and elected as Chairman of the LSC Board on April 7, 2010. He has been reconfirmed and reelected to that post and is now the longest-serving chair in LSC history. Throughout his service, John has worked with the Board to promote equal access to justice and provide grants for high-quality legal assistance to low-income Americans. Sidley is a proud supporter of LSC and its mission to bridge the justice gap.
