Sidley has been shortlisted at the upcoming 2022 FT Innovative Lawyers Awards Europe in the “Practice of Law: Managing Complexity” and “Responsible Business” categories. The awards are given by the Financial Times and its research partner, RSGI, to recognize innovative law firms and in-house legal teams in the European market for their originality, leadership, and impact.
The firm has been named a finalist in the “Practice of Law: Managing Complexity” category for its representation of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., a global insurance brokerage, risk management, and consulting services firm, in its acquisition of the treaty reinsurance brokerage operations of Willis Towers Watson plc for US$3.25 billion. The global transaction involved navigating complex regulatory environments in a host of international jurisdictions.
Sidley’s Emerging Enterprises Pro Bono Program, which pairs the firm’s lawyers with their partnering corporate counsel to provide free legal support to organizations which have a positive social or environmental impact in developing countries, now in its 10th year, has been shortlisted in the “Responsible Business” category. The program is managed from Geneva, Switzerland by partners Iain Sandford and Nicolas Lockhart, director Ada Siqueira, and senior pro bono coordinator Diana Carballo Chanfon.
Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in London on October 13, 2022.
